Last year, whilst living in Paris, I was lucky enough to be involved in a fascinating project entitled ‘Living in France; born elsewhere’. Early in the year I met with Hanna (the creator of the project) and we immediately developed a close bond.
Over our regular meetings, (before the terrorist attacks occurred here in Paris), we started to discuss our future goals, and Hanna introduced me to the project. Immediately I was captivated, and enjoyed hearing about these individual’s life stories, and their different experiences of living in France as migrants.
This project started several years ago, when Hanna began to develop a portfolio of families who had migrated to France. She was intrigued by these people who had uprooted their lives. As you can imagine, the diversity and originality of these stories was astonishing.
Hanna describes the pictures and the diversity of these individuals as a “gallery of fragments of a mosaic which compose society today”.
I was privileged to meet these people and spend some time listening to their narratives, and their impressions of life in France today. I invite you all to have a look at our project webpage, which can be found at: www.hatobooks.wordpress.com
